System

$ whoami

Print the user logged in.

$ date

Print the current date-time, time zone included.

$ uname -a

Display Linux system informations.

$ uptime

Shows how long is the system running.

$ hostname

Print the hostname of the system.

$ uname -r

Display kernel version and informations.

$ history

Prints the history of all the commands ran.

$ pidof (command/program)

Prints the PID of a program running.
A PID is an acronym for process identification number on Linux systems. It is an identification number that is automatically assigned to each process when it is created.

# kill "pidof "

Kill a program that is actually running identified by its PID.

$ top

Displays the top CPU processes.
